SWINDON open their 2003 campaign with a Gloucestershire & Wiltshire Division One match at Dumbleton tomorrow.

The side, relegated last season, will be looking for a good start in their bid to bounce back in the West of England ranks, and they will certainly field a strengthened batting line-up at the picturesque Worcestershire ground.

New acquisitions Bretty Sydney-Smith, from Australia, Londoner Neil Patel and Andy Staff all make their league debuts, and Nichols hopes the trio will quickly settle into the side.

The Baden twins will add experience to the top order, with John in fine form after his century against Challow last week.

With strike bowler Pete Stinchcombe away on holiday, Nichols will carry the seam attack, supported by paceman Roger Willoughby and young Dan Willis, while spinner Paul Stoddard makes a league return for the club.
