ANDY KING insists the price is not right to secure striker Junior Agogo's services but the Town manager hopes a 'happy compromise' can be reached with Barnet.

The County Ground boss is determined to land the 23-year-old who has netted 20 goals in the Conference this season.

The two clubs have differing views on the player's value but talks are taking place to try and reach a mutually acceptable figure.

With Danny Invincible and Eric Sabin both heading for the County Ground exit door, King's priority is to find two goalscorers.

He said: "Efforts are still being made to try and bring the boy here.

"Barnet's valuation is too high for me but we are still talking and I hope we can achieve a happy balance."

However, Agogo is not King's sole target.

While Malcolm Crosby was watching Town's reserves lose 4-0 at Portsmouth, King was watching another target on his summer shopping list.

He said: "I am looking at players all the time but these things are rarely straightforward."

As for players already on the books, goalkeeper Craig Farr has not done enough to convince King that he is worthy of a one-year deal.

He said: "I am not convinced that Craig has challenged Bart Griemink sufficiently to be offered a 12-month contract.

"A month-to-month deal is on the table.

"If Craig comes back in pre-season and shows that he will be a real threat to Bart Griemink then we will take things from there.

"I need to feel completely happy that if Bart gets injured or has a drop in form, Craig can step in and perform long term.

"I think Bart has had things too easy this season. Every player needs to have someone threatening his position. That's my position and it's up to Craig to decide what he wants to do."

Daren Dykes should learn his fate next week with King mulling over whether the 21-year-old will offer a sufficient threat next season.

He said: "It's a difficult one with Daren. I have to decide what will best benefit Daren and benefit the club."

Eric Sabin was due back at the County Ground this morning after his trial spell with Queens Park Rangers.

King said: "QPR have said they want to look at Eric again next week but I have helped as much as I'm going to.

"They've seen him twice on my time and it's up to them to make a decision on whether they want him or not."

As for tomorrow's season finale with Luton Town, King will resist the temptation to pack his team with youngsters.

He said: "I want to end the season on a positive note, reach 60 points and I suppose the crowd will appreciate the chance to say goodbye to certain individuals."
