INJURIES and the aftermath of the Iraq War will leave Warminster captain Tim Cowley with selection problems for the Premier Division campaign.

Four members of Warminster' s first team squad are in the Army and still out in the Gulf, although they should start returning home by mid-June.

Batsman Adrian Grinneneau has moved away from the area and all-rounder Martin Hutton has a knee injury and will play as a batsman only.

Wicketkeeping, too, is likely to be problem area, with veteran Gerry Clarke likely to start the season behind the stumps.

There is a new overseas player at Sambourne Road, with South African fast bowler Tim Harvey replacing his countryman Kyle Smit, who made a big impact last summer.

"With the problems we have I think it's going to be a season of consolidation rather than challenging for the title," said club spokesman Sally Hutton.

"A lot is going to depend on the experienced players like Rob Nash, Martin Cull and captain Tim Cowley.

Work is continuing on the club's new indoor cricket school the first of its kind in Wiltshire and it should be ready for use by the middle of June.

Warminster start their league campaign with the short trip to Chippenham tomorrow.
