A CALLOUS burglar stole cash and jewellery from an 85-year-old woman living in Melksham.
Between 10pm and 10.20pm on Monday, the burglar entered the house through a ground floor window, while the pensioner was in the bathroom.
PC Stan Boardman of Melksham police said all the 85-year-old saw was a blur when the man left through the front door.
"She was quite calm when we went round but I don't think it had sunk in," said.
"When the weather is warmer, and people are at home, they tend to leave their windows open but they should be careful how far they open them and be extra vigilant."
Anyone with information can phone Melksham police on (01225) 703444 or Crimestoppers on (0800) 555111.
