TO take up the point made by Chris Hoar about the support of the Regional Development Agency (RDA) for the Vision for Trowbridge in last week's Wiltshire Times, having followed the information about the Vision carefully in the local press, what is apparent is that this support is shared by other knowledgeable bodies.

The Conservative county council administration have declared that they "welcome the RDA's contribution to the Vision for Trowbridge because it confirms the RDA's interest in improving the facilities which Trowbridge can offer to the local community".

The West Wiltshire Economic Partnership supported the Vision as "a great opportunity to get behind the council and produce a scheme that will give us a vibrant, competitive and successful county town, west Wiltshire and the wider Wiltshire community".

The Wessex Association of Chambers of Commerce have said: "The backing of the RDA gives further credibility to the Vision."

Therefore, there is widespread support for the Vision from organisations that believe in the future of the town and see the Vision process as providing a valuable route map to that future.

Nothing is set in concrete. The opportunity is there for those with concerns to get involved and make them crystal clear as part of the consultation process. The RDA have stated that the intention is, "in consultation with the residents of Trowbridge, to comprehensively plan the redevelopment of the county town".

So let's get involved instead of sniping from the sidelines!
