WARMINSTER'S town crier has a spring in his step after bagging a hat-trick of awards.

Phil Seddon's winning spree began on Easter Saturday at Alcester in Warwickshire where he won best-dressed town crier in the Heart of England show.

Mr Seddon, 51, beat 19 other town criers to win the award. He followed this up on Easter Monday with a double at the Mells Daffodil Festival, near Frome.

The festival saw Mr Seddon win both best dressed town crier and best town crier. For the latter award Mr Seddon collected the Steven Haberfield Memorial Trophy, named after the former Frome town crier.

Mr Seddon said: "I have had dozens of people congratulating me I'm will need a bigger hat!"

He has now left for Normandy with a group of Warminster residents to visit twin town Flers for a 30th twinning anniversary.

He said: "I don't know what they will make of my shout in French."
