MUM Susan Almadi claims her family has been forced to sleep in a tent for two weeks because of delays to repair work at their West Wiltshire Housing Society home.

Miss Almadi said she and her two children were forced into the garden of their house in Downavon, Bradford on Avon, because work to repair rotten floorboards made it impossible to live inside.

She said the work is still unfinished and she is unable to let her children into some of the rooms because floorboards are still missing.

She said: "When the guy left without finishing the work, I thought I was imagining things, but he still has not been back. The only solution was to put up the tent."

A flood at the house on April 15 required a repairman to fix the kitchen ceiling, but she claims he only half-finished the job.

There is now a hole in the ceiling, and water in the kitchen electrics and gas fittings.

Miss Almadi said: "My boy is only four and I am terrified that the kitchen ceiling will collapse on him. It is really dangerous.

"When I told the housing society about the flood, nearly two weeks ago, they said they would send someone out to check the electrics, but no one has come and that is just irresponsible." The row of houses that Susan and her two children live in was refurbished shortly before the family moved in four years ago, but she thinks the job was not done properly.

When the Wiltshire Times contacted the housing society this week it said staff were unaware Miss Almadi was unhappy with the situation, and said she would be visited straight away.

A spokesman for the housing society said: "The nature of the work on the floorboards meant we could only do one room at a time.

"It has always been our intention to finish the job and we are sorry for any inconvenience."
