I WAS absolutely furious to read about the rehabilitation unit to be situated in the hotel in Bythesea Road.
Who was the imbecile/s from the District Council who even considered, let alone approved, planning permission for a rehabilitation centre for ex drug addicts and alcoholics adjacent to a newly built complex comprising luxury retirement flats for the over 60s?
Obviously someone who has no regard whatsoever for the elderly population. In some areas and instances people already live in fear of going out day/night in case of trouble. No-one can give 100 per cent guarantees there will be no problems from the rehab centre.
I also understand the occupants for the centre will come from other areas such as Manchester, Liverpool etc, as well as more locally. I ask, why Trowbridge? Did these other cities/towns turn down the proposal?
I am of retirement age and was considering buying one of the new flats now I am having serious doubts thanks to the District Council.
