A TROWBRIDGE grandmother is taking part in a sponsored fire walk to raise funds for a sports hall at the school where she works.
Shirley Gale, 49, of Victoria Road, is a house leader at Rowdeford Special School in Rowde and plans to walk across 20 feet of wood embers burning at 1,236F.
The school has been allocated £395,000 in grants and hopes the fire walk can raise the £40,000 shortfall needed.
So far 25 volunteers have signed up for the challenge on June 14.
Mrs Gale said: "I'm not thinking about the walk. I just hope that I can concentrate long enough we will have three hours of psyching up beforehand."
Those who wish to sponsor Mrs Gale should call her on (01225) 767095.
If you want to take part, call event treasurer Belinda Garrett on (01380) 850915.
