THE death of a Chippenham fan at Monday's match with Welling has cast a huge shadow over the climax of the Bluebirds' Premier Division campaign.

Mike Opie, 67, suffered a heart attack during the second half of Town's 4-0 win and, despite the best efforts of club stewards and paramedics, died half an hour after the game finished.

Tom Saunders' side travel to Halesowen for their final game tomorrow and both sides have plenty to play for, but the match has lost its edge completely in light of this week's events.

"Something like that really puts football into perspective," said Saunders, who watched the incident unfold 20 yards from his dug-out.

"We were brilliant on Monday but it didn't mean anything after what happened. It's a tragedy."

Now Saunders is hoping to pay tribute to Opie by cementing third place with victory in the Midlands.

But Halesowen who have beaten the Bluebirds twice this season also have a massive incentive. Anything other than a win will prompt their immediate return to the Western Division.

Scott Walker is a major doubt for Chippenham after aggravating an ankle injury on Monday night.

Adie Mings replaced Walker to brilliant effect and the burly forward should have done enough to earn a place in the starting line-up.

Liam Bull leaves for America today so James Bittner returns in goal.

Shane Andrews will have to make do with a place on the bench in his final game before leaving the club.

The long-serving defender will be given a second-half run out as he bids a final farewell to the Blue Army.

There is nothing at stake but local pride as Cirencester travel to Gloucester City for their final game of the season.

Gloucester's promotion charge has long since faltered and Ciren continue to monopolise 14th place in the Western Division.

Centurions boss Brian Hughes said: "We've been waiting for the season to end for a while now, but to end with a derby gives us something to play for."

Hughes has no injury or suspension problems, so his main selection dilemma will be which Academy youngsters to blood.

England schoolboy international Lee Stevens is the main contender after an impressive debut in the 3-1 win over Atherstone last week.

DEVIZES aim to end a miserable season on a high tomorrow.

The Screwfix Premier Division's bottom club conclude their campaign with a trip to Dawlish (kick off 12.30pm).

Corsham travel to Weston St Johns for their final First Division match this evening (6.30pm).
