ANGLING: CHIPPENHAM'S Ivy House Fishery open evening match again produced some good catches of carp.

Ivy House matchman Bob Keeping won with an all-carp catch weighing 52lb 8oz, taken on pole-fished cat meat on a 12 hook.

The Wilts Angling open match fished at Viaduct fisheries on Monday also produced good weights of carp.

Martin Barrett, of Trowbridge, won with a carp catch weighing 92lb 15oz, taken on waggler-fished pellets on a 14 hook. Kevin Grant, of Trowbridge, was second with another carp catch weighing 75lb 11oz, taken on legered cat meat on a 12 hook.

Other placings: 4 Mick Gunning, Trowbridge, 64lb; 5 Paul Bond, Trowbridge, 58lb; 6 Ian Parsons, Viaduct, 48lb 7oz.

The Wilts Angling Open match fished at Hordle Lakes on Sunday again produced good weights of carp.

Paul Bond, of Trowbridge, won with an all-carp catch weighing 97lb 5oz, taken on pole-fished pellets on a 14 hook. Steve Gardner, of Chippenham, was second with a carp catch weighing 76lb 10oz, taken on pole-fished cat meat on a 12 hook.

Geoff Matthews, of Trowbridge, was third with a carp catch weighing 62lb, taken on pole-fished pellets on a 14 hook.

Other placings: 4 Pete Neate, Holt, 48lb 8oz; 5 Ian Willetts, Bradford, 44lb 4oz; 6 Nick Johns, Trowbridge, 39lb 8oz.

There will be a debate on the close season on rivers at the June meeting of the South West and South Wales region of the National Federation of Anglers.
