NOT one, but two new models are being launched at Honda dealers this week.

Sales of the Civic 4-door SE Executive with 'IMA inside' began yesterday. Using similar technology to the pioneering Honda Insight, the long-awaited petrol-electric saloon achieves 57.7 mpg combined fuel economy with CO2 emissions of just 116 g/km, the lowest of any 4-door petrol engine car currently on sale.

The model features a high specification which includes leather upholstery, climate control air conditioning, alloy wheels, ABS brakes (with EBD and Brake Assist), CD tuner and much more.

With its extremely low emissions, the Civic IMA offers a huge benefit in tax advantages for company car drivers; for the same reason it is also one of the few cars to escape the London Congestion charge.

Furthermore, buyers can take advantage of a £1,000 grant from the government's PowerShift* programme to bring the effective on-the-road price down to £14,000, the same as a regular 1.6 litre petrol engine Civic 5dr SE Executive.

This weekend also sees the sales debut of the Accord Tourer, the plush estate version of the all-new Accord.

The Tourer will build on the premium positioning of its saloon sibling with its own highly distinctive styling and best-in-class loadspace. Notable features include a power tailgate that can be fully opened and closed at the press of a button plus an ingenious, 'one-motion' rear seat which can be folded flat to open up the luggage area in a simple and quick, one action, one-handed operation.

The range comprises four distinct models graded 2.0 SE, 2.0 Executive, 2.4 Type S and 2.4 Executive, with prices starting at £17,500.

The TransportEnergy PowerShift programme, which is run by the Energy Saving Trust, focuses on alternative fuels which are viable in the UK today, and proven to offer an environmental benefit over traditional fuels.

These include cars, vans, trucks and buses running on electricity or hybrid, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Natural Gas (CNG).
