SWINDON CANCER APPEAL: THE adrenaline was pumping at Trax Gym in aid of the Evening Advertiser Appeal.

Around 55 people have signed up for a fundraising marathon at the Shepherd Street gym. The event looks set to raise thousands of pounds for our Macmillan fund.

Participants have to complete 26 miles using a combination of rowing, treadmill and cycling machines.

The challenge was launched on Monday, and fundraisers have two weeks to reach the target.

Rob Karn, 25, gym manager, who lost three grandparents to cancer, has already completed his 26 miles he did it in just under two hours.

He said: "We were expecting 50 people to sign up, but in fact we have had 55, so we're really pleased.

"Some are doing a few miles here and there, but many have finished already.

"We have raised £500 from entry fees alone, and a few people have raised between £300 and £500, so we should raise a few thousand."

The entry fee is £5 for gym members, and £10 for non-members.
