COMEDIAN Les Dennis performed in front of a packed Wyvern Theatre despite fears that his appearance in Swindon would be a flop.
Last week, the Evening Advertiser revealed that the TV host and comedian had only sold 37 tickets for his show at the theatre.
Since then, the number of seats sold shot up to more than 400 due to a rush of last minute sales.
Wyvern marketing manager Nicky Western, thinks the publicity actually encouraged more people to come to the show.
She said: "The bad press seems to have paid off which is wonderful for him.
"The ticket sales have been very last minute. But it is also the Bank Holiday so a lot of people don't like to plan ahead."
