ROYAL Logistics troops based at Hullavington Barracks are preparing to fly out to Iraq in support of soldiers already in the Middle East.

Around 475 soldiers from 9 Supply Regiment and a further 130 Territorial Army reservists will relieve troops already in Iraq as the post-conflict phase of the Allied operation swings into action.

The regiment has a highly diverse range of trades and equipment ranging from ammunition technicians, supply specialists and controllers to butchers, bakers, chefs, pioneers and drivers.

A mobile bath, laundry and bakery will be transported to the Middle East together with Land Rovers and trucks.

The 9 Supply Regiment becomes the first to be deployed to Iraq to start relieving the troops already out in the theatre of war.

Regimental spokeswoman Capt Claire Cobley said: "Morale is very high and the soldiers are keen to go out, do the job and play their part in the British coalition effort, particularly with the shift in role towards peace-keeping and nation building."
