THE time is long overdue, I think, for someone to question the logic of the council's so called green strategy in relation to the Great Western Hospital.

In fact, I'm utterly mystified as to how such a half-baked, illogical and preposterous notion ever saw the light of day.

I would have hardly thought it necessary to reiterate the fact that hospitals, by their very nature, are places where ease of access and sufficient parking for both visitors and staff are essential.

Recently, at another PFI hospital operating a similar green strategy, a visiting surgeon scheduled to perform lifesaving heart surgery was unable to find a parking place and as a consequence the operation was cancelled. I personally find it very difficult to put into words how I feel about this prescribed insanity.
