YOUTH FOOTBALL: SUPER-SUB James Hutton scored twice to lead Malmesbury Youth to the Under 16s Red Division championship of the Wiltshire Times and Chippenham News Mid-Wilts Youth and Minor League.

Malmesbury went into their last game of the season against Melksham Park knowing that only a win would guarantee them the title.

The first half saw both sides make chances but neither managed to find the target.

With 20 minutes left Malmesbury made an inspired substitution bringing on Hutton, who within minutes put the home side in the lead by heading home from a corner.

Hutton doubled their lead before Chaz Parks and Paul Hudson put the game out of reach for Melksham and the title race over for the rest.

Devizes Town Youth, Lavington Bandits and Trowbridge Town Youth are all in with a shout of runners-up position.

Devizes played Lavington at home in what turned out to be a very entertaining and end to end game.

Luke Baron put Lavington ahead before Toby Clarke equalised for Devizes. Matthew Minnis regained the lead for the visitors but Devizes were up to the challenge and had levelled through Craig Kennedy at the interval.

The second half continued in the same vein, with Lavington taking the lead for the third time through Miles Hickton before Daniel Kingsbury squared the game at 3-3 from the penalty spot.

The game could have gone either way but the all important three points went to Devizes with Kennedy scoring his second of the match.

Lavington moved back into second place on Sunday with a convincing 5-1 home win against Salisbury Juniors.

Under 16s Blue Division

IN a very close first half Shaw and Whitley took an early lead in their home game against AFC Corsham but the teams were level at the break with Corsham scoring in the last minute of the half.

Corsham kept up their momentum from the restart and were 2-1 ahead within two minutes. A third for Corsham secured the victory and runners up position in their last league fixture of the season.

Under 15s Blue Division

WITH many games still to play in this division the race for the title is far from over, with several teams still having a realistic chance of winning.

Shaw's home game against Warminster Highbury was a one-sided affair, with Craig Dixon giving the home side a first half lead of 1-0. Dixon doubled his score early in the second half before John Blackwell and Dan Checchia (penalty) made it 4-0.

At the other end of the table it was honours even between home side Croft and Castle Combe Colts with a final score of 3-3.

Laverstock and Ford had a bad day with an 8-1 defeat at the hands of Westinghouse Youth. Laverstock were still in the game at half time when they were trailing 4-1 but a great team performance from the visitors denied Laverstock their chances in the second half.

Chippenham Town Rangers scuppered the chances of Bemerton Heath finishing runners up with a narrow home victory. An early goal from Darren Holcombe in the first half was enough to keep Rangers in the race.

Under 15s Red Division

IN a mid week clash Melksham Park ran out 6-3 home winners against FC Chippenham, with goals from Nick Rideout (2), Gary Clemence, Jason Kidd-Stanton and two from man-of-the-match Dave Thompson.

Melksham Park were at home to Devizes Town Youth in another mid week fixture and took a 3-0 lead at the break.

Park increased their lead to 5-0 within ten minutes of the restart but the boys from Devizes never gave up and were soon back in the game at 5-2, with goals from Charlie Moss and Dan Blake.

Park secured their win with a sixth goal leaving them six points clear at the top of the table. Park's goals came from Nick Rideout (2), Gary Clemence (2), Jamie Oliver and Darrell Ward.

Marlborough and Westbury Youth met twice this week, with the results from both matches' important factors in the race for the championship title.

On Tuesday night Westbury travelled to Marlborough but their trip was fruitless with Marlborough taking the three points with a 4-0 victory.

Westbury played host to Marlborough on Sunday and had obviously learned from their mistakes, taking a 1-0 lead then holding out until the final whistle to take the three points.

Kai Pinnell score for Westbury with a 30 yard looping shot over the keeper. Goalkeeper Adam Bailey, was man-of-the-match for Westbury, pulling of several tremendous saves throughout the second half.

In a mid table clash Trowbridge Town Youth entertained Devizes Town Youth.

The scoring was opened by Devizes after a fruitless first half but Trowbridge were soon back level with a goal from Adil Bakali. Sam Dawson put the home side ahead with a screaming header before Paul Gittins wrapped things up, leaving the final score at 3-1 to Trowbridge.

Under 14s Blue Division

SALISBURY Juniors remain top of the table but their hopes of the titl were dented in their home game against Chippenham Town Youth.

Salisbury were cruising at 2-0 in the first half with both goals from Adam Jones. But the second half saw the home side lose their concentration and Chippenham were soon level. Despite efforts from Salisbury to secure a win in their final game the match ended all square.

Bath increased their chances with an away win against Melksham Park. Both sides played a pretty even game in the first half which ended 1-1. The second half saw Bath move up a gear, putting four past the goalkeeper to finish 5-1 winners. Ben Thompson, Joe Stevens (2) and Rob Hobbs (2) scored for Bath, with Daniel Kovaks replying for Melksham.

Under 13s Blue Division

IN a bottom of the table clash Westinghouse Youth played host to AFC Corsham.

Both sides gave a good team performance and the game ended all square at 1-1. Chris Newman scored for Westinghouse and Carl Gibson replied for Corsham.

Under 13s County Cup

TROWBRIDGE Town overcame Chippenham Town Youth to lift the cup at the County Ground on Tuesday night

An entertaining contest ended 2-2 at the end of extra time, but Trowbridge held their nerve from the spot to clinch the silverware.

Runners-up Chippenham Town were the first representatives of their club, formed six years ago, to reach the final of the prestigious county competition.

Under 12s Red Division

VISITORS Shaw & Whitley took all three points with a narrow 1-0 win in a very close game with FC Chippenham.

Under 11s Division One

AFC CORSHAM are still in with a chance of the winners or runners up position following their 4-1 home win against Trowbridge Town Youth.

Under 11s Division Two

A MIDWEEK clash between Trowbridge Wanderers and visitors White Horse Juniors saw the home side earn a 7-1 victory with goals from Daniel Dyer, Edward Clarke (2) and Aaron Filer (4).

FC Chippenham need to take four points from their remaining two games to take the title following their 6-3 away win against Devizes Town Youth. The Devizes goals came from Jake Walters (2) and Jamie Warren, who netted from his own half with the longest of lobs.

Under 11s Division Three

WARMINSTER Highbury's penultimate game of the season put them out of reach of the chasing pack for this season's championship title.

In a good clean and entertaining game against AFC Corssham, Highbury took a 1-0 lead through Craig Sheppard. Sheppard doubled their lead before Joe Martin sealed the 3-0 victory.

It was honours even for Melksham Park and visitors FC Chippenham, with James Goddard equalising for Park at the break.

Benjamin Howe put Park ahead in the second half but a last minute equaliser from FC Chippenham ended the game at 2-2.
