I WOULD sincerely hope that following the "hung" result for the North Wiltshire District Council last week, that both major political groups will have the courage and determination to stand by their own politics and determinedly fight their own corner without resorting to "outside assistance."

Knowing the characters involved as I have done for many years I am confident that the Independent will stand by his immediate statement and show no favour to either group, but simply vote how he feels will benefit the district and public in general.

However, I am concerned that the only remaining Labour district councillor could take full advantage of her position to enhance some particular policy or, more especially, any position offered by the Liberal Democrat group to strengthen their slender ability to control the administration.

If she feels that my comments are unfair, the simple response is not to take such action but merely to accept the fact that the overwhelming electorate in north Wiltshire has made their verdict with regard to her Party.

Yes, as many people know I am a Conservative Party member but not afraid to criticise my group when/if I feel their decisions are not correct.

I would love to see an equally enthusiastic Liberal Democrat supporter write a similar letter urging that "deals" are not on by either side.
