THE headteacher at a west Wiltshire school said they would be better prepared to deal with pupils returning from Sars-affected countries if the outbreak continues to wreak havoc.

Thirty pupils at Stonar School near Melksham, who returned from Hong Kong two weeks ago, have resumed lessons after 10 days in isolation. Staff had been looking after them in three boarding houses at the far end of the site.

Headteacher Clare Osborne said: "The girls have been brilliant, they haven't complained at all.

"If necessary, we will bring the students back 10 days early next time."

Most of the girls are now hoping the virus will be under control before their summer holiday break.
