A nine-year-old cancer sufferer and her diabetic brother were given a morale boosting Jeep ride on Saturday thanks to a generous donation.

Amber Ladva is currently being treated for cancer of the thyroid gland. She and her brother Anand, 11, were given an hour-long ride from Warminster Prep School, where they both are pupils, to Longleat Park.

They were given free admission through the park before heading off to Shearwater where they stopped for a drink.

The ride in an American World War Two Jeep was first prize in a raffle organised by Macmillan Cancer Relief as part of a military exhibition in Warminster.

Prize winner Tony Dixon, 47, from Basingstoke, decided to pass it on and asked the charity to give it to a local child with cancer.

He said: "When I heard that the prize went to the these two I was very happy, I'm glad it has gone to a good cause."

Driver Mike Knight, 55, of Corsley, has owned the Jeep for 27 years. He said: "I was honoured that the ride caused such excitement, they thoroughly enjoyed it. They put a lot of children to shame."
