WHEN oh when will the people of Westbury accept that we urgently need a bypass and get together on the issue?

For years we have been arguing the toss about east or west and whilst this difference of opinion goes on we are gradually grinding to a halt.

This week we are again gridlocked with traffic held up from West End to Chalford due to traffic lights at the top of Haynes Road. It is only a short while ago we experienced the same problem at the bottom of the road.

We heard all the same old arguments when new roads were discussed in Warminster and Upton Scudamore but I would suggest that far from being a blot on the landscape both roads are not only successful in improving the flow of traffic away from the built up areas but are indeed a pleasant drive now that the flowers and shrubbery have developed.

I personally feel the concentration of carbon monoxide is probably more harmful to health than the fumes from the cement works. Perhaps some of the venom directed towards Lafarge over many years might prove more beneficial to local residents if it were applied to the bypass issue.
