THE Breast Care Support Group in Chippenham is appealing for women to come forward and share the experiences of their NHS treatment.

The group has recently joined the National Breast Cancer Coalition, which lobbies Government for better services for women with breast cancer.

Nina Rack, who runs the support group, said they want to hear about good and bad experiences.

She said: "We are going to lobby our MPs at the end of October but we want to find out women's experiences so we know which areas need improving."

"We are lobbying for better access to drugs and better services for women."

The National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC) is the nation's largest breast cancer advocacy group, with more than 600 member organisations and 70,000 individual members and supporters.

Committed to ending breast cancer, NBCC and its sister organisation, the National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund, work to educate and train individuals to be effective activists and to influence policies that affect breast cancer research and treatment.

Mrs Rack suffered with breast cancer eight years ago and she knows from her own experience that the NHS service was not entirely adequate.

"I was mis-diagnosed at first. I wasted six to eight weeks when I could have been having treatment. I don't know if that is still happening. Services seem to vary throughout the country. In some places you can get wigs on the NHS and in others you have to pay," she said.

Mrs Rack said they were particularly interested in hearing from women who have recently been treated for breast cancer.
