SWINDON'S Jon Lewis starred as Frizzell County Championship Second Division promotion rivals Glamorgan and Gloucestershire were locked in a tight tussle at Bristol.

Gloucestershire had the better of the second day, after Lewis claimed Glamorgan's final four wickets for seven runs to bowl them out for 331. Lewis finished with 5-66.

Tim Hancock's 64 and Alex Gidman's unbeaten 63 helped reduce the arrears by 237 for the loss of seven before stumps.

Kent piled on the misery for bottom side Nottinghamshire in their First Division match at Trent Bridge.

Only 100 from Kevin Pietersen prevented total humiliation as Martin Saggers ran amok to bowl the hosts out for 177.

Saggers claimed 5-42 in just 13.2 overs and Andrew Symonds chipped in with 3-38 as Notts failed to provide any support for South African England hopeful Pietersen in his 99-ball innings.

Notts however ended the day on a high as they fought back to bowl Kent out for 242 in their reply.
