ARE you disappointed with your A level results? Or, have you done better than you expected and want to go to university?
Connexions Wiltshire and Swindon can offer advice in either circumstance.
Julie Tremlin from Connexions advises that the first and most important step is to "Check you haven't been offered a place by tracking the progress of your application on the UCAS website at www.ucas.com. If you have missed the required grade for your preferred or insurance course, contact the admissions office at the university or college and discuss your chances of getting on the course. Remember that you can only go through clearing if you don't have an offer."
"If you have applied and are turned down by your preferred choice, you will receive a clearing entry form, a clearing number and full instructions a few days after your results come out. Course vacancies will be listed on the UCAS website and in national newspapers. You need to act fast as popular courses go quickly. When looking at alternative courses, keep an open mind and be realistic, ensuring that you qualify.
"It is important not to panic and remember that universities and colleges need you too."
But, if your results are better than you expected, or you are reconsidering university, there is still time to apply.
Julie Tremlin advises the following. "Once your UCAS application is processed (about two weeks), you will receive a clearing entry form. You can contact Connexions on 080 800 13219 or visit www.connexions.gov.uk.
