CORSHAM residents can now support their local hospice by visiting the new Dorothy House Hospice Care shop in the newly developed Martingate Centre.

The shop was officially opened by town council chairman James Fraser on Tuesday morning.

It will be the 17th shop and all profits will go toward providing free care and services to patients and their families in north and west Wiltshire, Bath and parts of Somerset.

Spokesman Stewart Hoare said: "Last year the shops contributed more than £325,000 towards patient care. Every day Dorothy House helps nearly 500 families affected by cancer, motor neurone disease and other life threatening conditions, either in the comfort of their homes or at the hospice."

The new shop is currently looking for volunteers who can spare a few hours a week. Anyone interested should come to the shop during opening hours.

Donations of good quality clothes, bric-a-brac, jewellery, ornaments, unwanted gifts, household items and linen are also required.

The shop is now open from 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
