A DEVELOPER has increased security at the site of a former nursing home in Calne, which has been the victim of a series of attacks from vandals.
Rothwell Homes Ltd, of Wootton Bassett, recently brought Dunstan House, but has become concerned by a recent spate of criminal damage in the past few months.
To deter further attacks on the grade-II listed building in Lickhill Road, the company has tightened up security at the site, installing CCTV cameras, an alarm system and is now employing security patrols.
PC Steve Dixon, of Calne police, said the firm decided to take the measures because they were also concerned for the safety of the youngsters.
"The owners ask that parents tell their children the risks that they take if they go into a building site, which ultimately could lead to a very nasty accident," he said.
Police have responded to the developer's concerns and a youth was arrested and charged with offences of criminal damage after a recent incident at the site.
Rothwell Homes plans to incorporate the group of buildings on the site into a small housing complex.
