SWINDON Supermarine were given a reality check last night as some dodgy defending and questionable refereeing decisions saw them crash to a 4-1 defeat at Taunton Town in the Dr Martens Western Division.

Marine travelled to Somerset in confident mood following their 2-1 win over Gresley on Saturday, but they we quickly brought back to earth when Grantley Dicks nipped in unmarked at the near post to break the deadlock on six minutes.

The lead was doubled on 19 minutes when Craig Russell's shot was apparently cleared off the line by Dave Gee, only for the linesman to give the goal after a lengthy delay.

Gee's evening continued to go downhill when he and counterpart Derek Fields were sent off after a 32nd-minute scuffle.

The hosts went further ahead through a controversial Chris Myers penalty before the break, and Justin Porter headed a fourth on 64.

Justin Miller netted Marine's consolation after rounding the keeper 18 minutes from time.

In the Premier Division, Chippenham drew 1-1 with rivals Tiverton for the third successive time.

Scott Walker slotted the Bluebirds ahead with a neat finish on 59 minutes only for Jamie Mudge to level 11 minutes from the end.

Tiverton bossed the game in the final stages, but Tommy Saunders' troops carved the better openings with Charlie Griffin and Matt Rawlins both hitting the Tiverton bar.

IN the Hellenic Premier Division, goals from Neil Matthews and Lee Stoddart (penalty) gave Fairford a 2-0 home win over Bicester.

Purton beat Malmesbury Vics 3-1 in the Division One derby, while Shrivenham drew 1-1 with Cheltenham Saracens and Cirencester United lost 5-1 at Ross.
