Ref.10636KEEN gardener Dennis Moxham has impressed the judges again in this year's Devizes In Bloom contest.

The 70 year-old has won the best front garden house display prize and, together with three neighbours in Hillworth Road, scooped the best display in a small neighbourhood.

Mr Moxham has won prizes in the competition in various categories since 1999. He said: "It was very nice to win this year. A lot of people who walk by my garden stop and talk to me and comment on the display."

Mr Moxham's garden has more than 20 hanging baskets plus many other flowers. He spends about two hours a day cultivating his garden.

Les Waller, 67, of St Mary's Gardens, won a new category this year for his allotment in Quakers Walk.

Mr Waller, a retired bricklayer, not only grows vegetables for himself and his wife, Veronica, but also grows an abundance of flowers, spending up to four hours a day on the allotment.

Mrs Waller said: "The allotment is super. It supplies all our vegetables throughout the winter months."

The prize of best display in an open space and maintained by volunteers was won for the successive year by Devizes Ambulance Station in Bridewell Street.

The Baptist Chapel in Maryport Street won the best display in church grounds and Wansdyke School won the best display in school grounds.

Wadworth Brewery won the best display at large commercial premises and Johnson The Jewellers of Maryport Street won the small commercial premises category.
