Ref.10643WHEN it comes to serving a good cuppa and tasty food, Dawn Phillips, of Little Cheverell, near Devizes, knows a thing or two.

She is back as one of the owners of the caf at Devizes Leisure Centre, after being made redundant twice by franchise holders.

The leisure centre has been without a caf since July. It had been run by Mirror Image, which took it over in January, following the withdrawal of Care Rowde, which ran it for six months.

Mrs Phillips, 39, whose husband, Mike, is a partner in the caf, is delighted she will be running the caf again.

She said: "When the caf closed both times I was the one that locked the doors and it was very emotional. It was two lots of kicks in the teeth. I'm really looking forward to welcoming back staff and customers."

Mrs Phillips has been on tenterhooks as she waited to see if her bid for the franchise had been accepted by Kennet Leisure Services.

She is to rename the caf Dawn's Place and it will open on September 6. It will be open seven days a week and serve teas, coffees, sandwiches, salads and hot food.

Mrs Phillips will work full-time and plans to take on two part-time staff.
