Ref. 26244-49GLENN Smith (Con, Covingham and Nythe) will have a new agenda to work to from next month.
Coun Smith, who is more used to leafing through pages of council agendas than honeymoon brochures, plans to marry his fiance, Helen Goodyer, next month.
The couple met in the unlikely location of a hospital ward, when Coun Smith was visiting a friend and he says 27-year-old Helen, a staff nurse at Great Western Hospital, is just what the doctor ordered.
Coun Smith, who at 26 became one of the youngest members on Swindon Council following the borough elections in May, said: "She was working and I was visiting a friend.
"It was quite a strange meeting, but we got engaged in May and are really looking forward to the wedding.
"I think Helen quite likes the fact I'm a councillor. She didn't at first when people kept ringing up and I disappeared to all those meetings, but she is really getting into it.
"However, she is not planning to join me in the council chamber just yet," said Coun Smith.
The couple, from Sparcells, will tie the knot in the Cornish town of Launceston at the end of September.
