The report about Marshfield Road surgery, Chippenham, in the August 14 edition of the Gazette was not entirely correct.
The report states "on August 5 the PCT sent letters to all of Doctor Williams' patients stating they were withdrawing the emergency cover from immediate effect".
I did not receive any such letter. My husband did receive a letter, but if he had been away from home I would have known nothing, as neither he nor I read each other's letters.
I know mine was not an isolated case as other women were also overlooked. Is it too much to expect the PCT to either send a letter to each patient, or, more sensibly, one letter addressed to husband and wife or all occupants of one home?
I cannot agree more with Mr Perry that it is time the health authority solved this matter instead of allowing the PCT to persecute an excellent, caring and hard working GP.
