I THOUGHT that I had heard everything until I read Mr Prescott's letter in Monday's paper regarding the fountains at the Orbital Shopping Park.
Good as it is to see children enjoying themselves in this beautiful weather, these fountains are a decorative feature using, I believe, recycled water, which, by its very nature, cannot be totally hygienic. (How many little ones leave the site when they need the toilet?).
I would suggest that, if the gentleman wants to take his grandchildren to cool off he avails himself of the excellent facilities which exist locally, Coate Water, Highworth, Milton Road, Oasis and Link Centre pools or the Cotswold Water Park. As John McEnroe would have said: 'You cannot be serious, man!'
As for there being no water shortage, if this weather continues, there soon will be and the cooling off of Mr Prescott's grandchildren will be rather low on the list of priorities.
