THE residents living in Kent Road are not the only ones concerned over the conversion of houses into bed sits.

I have written several letters to two councillors representing Eastcott ward, but only one, Coun Stan Pajak has bothered to reply. He expressed concern over the problem, but is unable to offer a solution.

It is encouraging to read in the Evening Advertiser today (Aug 14), that retrospective planning permission has been refused for three houses converted into eight self contained flats in Kent Road.

I was under the impression that a flat is a set of rooms on one floor, so must therefore assume that these are three storey houses.

One of the biggest risks in this type of development must be adequate fire precautions including fire exits and therefore assume that all the conversions in this area (and I do not mean just Kent Road and Hythe Road) have been given certificates for fire safety precautions by the Fire Brigade?
