Shrivenham boss Alan Dyton has boosted the club's title hopes by swooping to sign former Swindon Town star Tom Jones.

The veteran midfielder has been tempted to join Dyton's revolution as the club continue to press for a place in the Hellenic Premier Division.

Dyton said: "I've discussed everything with Tom and he is keen to play for us.

"He has made himself available and his coaching won't get in the way."

The 38-year-old ex-Supermarine playmaker, who runs a coaching business and assists at New College will not be available for tomorrow's trip to Clanfield or Monday's derby with Purton due to a family holiday.

But he is confident he still has plenty to offer his new employers when he returns.

"I wouldn't still be playing if I couldn't get around the pitch," he said.

"I've kept myself in good shape and you never really lose the ability so hopefully I can do a job.

"Shrivenham is a progressive club. Alan wants to take them to the Premier Division and I see no reason why that can't happen."

Jones fills the void left by Jamie Garbutt, who has opted to leave the club after failing to secure a starting place.

Vinny Parker's calf strain means he misses the Clanfield encounter too, but winger Michael Silvanus returns to give Shrivenham a major boost.

Purton travel to Witney tomorrow before locking horns with Shrivenham on Monday and Cirencester United visit Kidlington.

In the Premier Division, Wootton Bassett boss Pete Yeardley may be forced to use under 18 keeper Steve Bizley against visiting champions North Leigh.

Usual No 1 Rich Stevens is unavailable along with Sam Reason, Danny Clayton and Rich Willis, but Tony Macek returns.

Fairford manager Mark Webb is likely to name an unchanged side for the visit of Gloucester United, though Chris Knowles and Dave Tyler could return to the squad.

Pewsey aim to bounce back from their 8-0 midweek mauling by Slimbridge when they host Bicester.
