A NEW taxi-bus service is to help residents of an isolated Wiltshire village get into Swindon more easily.

The A2B bus, a seven-seater Volkswagen Sharan, will carry the people of Bradenstoke into neighbouring Lyneham, from where they can catch bus services into the town centre.

Journeys have been timetabled to connect with services from Lyneham to Swindon, Chippenham and other destinations.

Two early morning and late afternoon journeys will allow people in Bradenstoke to travel to and from work in Wootton Bassett and Swindon.

The project has been set up by Wiltshire County Council using funding from the Government's Rural Bus Challenge scheme.

It will be launched on Friday September 26 by North Wiltshire MP James Gray.

Janet Gascoigne, project manager at A2B, said: "Our aim is to improve access to bus services and increase choice, and to encourage more people to use public transport."

Journeys will cost £1 each way. For more details call 01249 890794.
