People were today still able to test their blood pressure at various sites across the borough.
Last year more than 2,200 people in Swindon were tested free as part of the National Blood Pressure Testing Week. People could visit B&Q, in Swindon's Fleming Way, today from 1pm to 4pm and all day at the Walk-in Health Centre, in Carfax Street. The centre is open everyday from 7am to 10pm.
Improved detection and management of high blood pressure reduces the risk of premature death and disability for thousands of people.
High blood pressure can often be treated successfully by making lifestyle changes. People should eat a diet containing less salt, less fat and more fruit and vegetables.
It is also advisable to maintain your ideal weight and take more exercise.
