A MAN got stuck trying to climb through a window at the home of an elderly woman in the early hours of Sunday morning, but claimed it was all an accident.
He fell through the open bedroom window shortly after 2am, waking up the owner of the house in Queensway, Warminster but left before the police had arrived.
Police are appealing for witnesses and warning elderly people to keep ground floor windows closed.
A police spokesman said: "The man had become stuck in the window before falling into the bedroom and leaving via the front door after explaining it was all an innocent mistake. No violence or threats of violence were made and the woman was not injured in any way, nor was anything stolen.
"While this may be an innocent mistake such incidents are worrying and the police are keeping an open mind and treating it as an isolated incident."
The man is described as being no older than 17, with short hair, thin features and slim build.
Anyone with information should call acting Warminster police on (01985) 847000.
