THE appreciation shown by your correspondent in last week's Wiltshire Times regarding the floral displays in Trowbridge has been well received by the Trowbridge in Bloom committee.
The committee consists of representatives of the Trowbridge and District Chamber of Commerce, the town council and other interested parties.
We work throughout the year in conjunction with West Wiltshire District Council, the town council, English Landscapes and Douch Farm Nurseries to produce high quality floral displays in all areas of the town.
Coupled with the supreme efforts of local residents and businesses, this ensures that a spectacular display is provided for residents of and visitors to Trowbridge all year round.
Apart from the floral displays, the Trowbridge in Bloom committee is working hard to try to eliminate the scourge of graffiti.
It appears on buildings, bus shelters and street furniture in the form of posters advertising nightclubs and entertainment venues, both in the local area and outside the district.
Not only are these annoying and unsightly, but also they are very rarely removed after the events, resulting in exchanges of letters and e-mails between members of the committee and the perpetrators of this unsightly activity.
If we can remove the posters, we believe the town will be a more attractive place.
