DRIVERS suffered further delays in County Way, Trowbridge this week after the road had to be resurfaced for the second time this summer.

Contractors carried out urgent resurfacing work after county council officials discovered the tarmac might not have met skid resistance guidelines.

The faults were discovered on a section of the road that had only been resurfaced earlier this summer. As a result the supplier of the defective road surface will foot the bill for this week's work.

George Batten, Wiltshire County Council's director of environmental services, said: "Regrettably the work meant more traffic delays while the resurfacing was carried out, however we had to act quickly to ensure the safety of people using the road."
