A TEENAGE party starring Westbury singer Mimi proved a flop when just a handful of youngsters turned up.

The party in The Laverton was staged by Westbury Town Council to provide youngsters with entertainment.

But despite three Westbury bands playing for free and over 200 tickets available, only 11 were sold.

But organiser Councillor Charlie Fimbow said the event could be repeated in the future with better success. He said: "It was a small but enthusiastic crowd who all enjoyed themselves and the bands were fantastic. Unfortunately we didn't get the ticket sales we expected but there was a bit of a mess up."

Two bands, Rolling Thunder and Eden, each played a set and topping the bill was Westbury pop singer and Song for Europe finalist Mimi.

Westbury Mayor Horace Prickett, who helped organise the gig, said: "It could have been better but next time we will have more time to organise parties like this but the bands were great."

Money from the event was to go the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
