THE FA Vase kicks off in earnest tomorrow and a duo with proven pedigree in the competition stand in the way of Highworth's progress.

John Fisher's side entertain a Corsham outfit led by former Chippenham assistant Nobby Bush and ex-Bluebird midfielder John Woods. Both were key figures in Chippenham's Wembley 2000 entourage.

The final may take place away from the defunct Twin Towers these days, but a chance to play at an as yet unnamed Premiership ground is not to be sniffed at.

Now Fisher aims to guide his troops beyond a tricky second qualifying round tie and extend Highworth's winning run to 10.

"It doesn't matter who we're playing at the moment, we just want to keep this run going.

"I'm quite confident. Nobby has been to the final with Chippenham, but he's dealing with a completely different set of players at Corsham, without disrespect."

Bush though, believes his current squad can emulate his old club and embark on a glorious run.

He said: "The Vase is very dear to my heart it's a fantastic competition.

"The Screwfix League have been well represented in recent years, with Tiverton, Taunton and Chippenham all getting to the final and Devizes getting to the quarters last year.

"This is cup football so anything can happen and I believe this is a competition we can do well in if we get past Highworth."

The hosts welcome back Andy Wollen from holiday, but with goalkeeper Elliot Jackson still missing, Fisher is likely to stick with the side that beat Almondsbury 3-0 on Tuesday.

Corsham have lost key defender Brian Kayll to Melksham this week, but Russell Lodge returns.

Richard Thompson faces a fitness test but Alan Griffin is fit to play.

WOOTTON Bassett are also involved in an all-Wiltshire affair when they travel to the south of the county to face Bemerton.

The 4-0 defeat at Hungerford has done little for the confidence of Pete Yeardley's young squad and the manager is set to ring the changes.

Rich Willis, Mark Vaughan, Dave Jones, John Magani and Danny Clayton are all back in contention.
