A BROKEN down car caused a security scare at the army garrison in Westbury.
A red Fiat Punto with Irish number plates was left outside the Regular Commissions Board at 11.50am on Monday.
Worried security staff at the army base called officers at Westbury who in turn contacted colleagues in the Republic of Ireland to check on the vehicle.
But the Irish owner had only left the car by the side of the road while she walked into Westbury town centre to call for the RAC.
Colonel Patrick Dunseathe, garrison security officer, said: "This woman had no idea what she had done, she had not realised she had left her broken down car outside a military installation.
"The speed in which the situation was solved shows our security arrangements work."
