DEFEAT for Minety was made worse by a dislocated injury for Gareth Dyer which could rule him out for some time.

The visitors opened their account with a penalty goal after 15 minutes, then immediately added another, as the referee penalised a late tackle from Minety.

Both sides squandered chances to score until the visitors caught and ran back a Minety clearance kick just before half-time. Linking well, North Dorset fed the ball to lock Andy Coles, who ran in a try to extend his side's lead to 11 points.

Coles scored again soon after the restart, bursting through the initial cover before touching down under the posts to give an easy conversion.

Minety briefly got back into the game, setting up a maul and driving scrum half Andy Brown over for a try, but it was during a subsequent Minety attack that Dyer was injured.

Both sides had a player sin-binned during the final 20 minutes, but North Dorset added two more penalty goals and ended clear winners.

Minety must now pick themselves up for this Saturday's game when they take on Calne in the first round of the Junior Vase.

Devizes 3rd 36, Minety 2nd 5

IN their inaugural game in Dorset and Wilts Division 2, Minety seconds fought hard but faded.

A missed tackle and an interception allowed the home team two first-half tries.

Minety's score came when lock David Hazell used his height to score.

That made the score 12-5, but from then on Devizes gradually drew away. As the visitors tired, Devizes ran in four more tries.
