IT is a double edged sword. If we name and shame paedophiles parents will be in a better position to protect their children.

But police believe it will drive the perverts underground - hampering them from keeping track on their whereabouts.

So what is the answer? It depends on who you ask.

Perhaps the best solution is controlled access as advocated by supporters of Sarah's Law. It is not about putting perverts' names and addresses on a weekly newsletter but giving designated community groups the right to know when a pervert moves into the neighbourhood. After all, the number one priority should always be children's safety.
