I note with interest that Kent County Council proposes pegging pensioners' council tax to inflation, with people of working age making up the shortfall.
Kent County Council calculates that pegging tax increases for its 134,000 OAPs would add an extra 1.3 per cent to other people's bills, equivalent to about 20p a week.
So, come on Swindon Borough Council, do this for the Swindon pensioners. Show some concern and compassion for the old people of Swindon who have paid tax at a rate far exceeding the meagre pension increases we get every year.
Most old age pensioners have had enough and this fair system would give some relief to the ever increasing worry of how to balance the budget for old people.
