SWINDON's Lex Defence, which supports the fleet requirements of the British Armed Forces, is sponsoring an attempt to circumnavigate the world in an oh-so-tiny autogyro.
The Westlea company is providing the Global Eagle Expedition, which aims to raise £2 million for charity, with an Iveco Combi vehicle, already used to transport the expedition team and the miniature helicopter (think Little Nellie, Sean Connery and You Only Live Twice) to a number of promotional visits preceding its round-the-world attempt, which will start next February.
The high-flying endeavour should, if successful, take in 25 countries, 25,000 miles and about three-and-a-half months to compete.
Said Brian Grant, managing director of Lex Defence: "It is great that we are able to support Expedition Global Eagle.
"We are proud of our association with the team and it is yet another way for Lex Defence to support the British Armed Forces."
