NEW Chippenham goalkeeper Craig Farr is already hankering for a move away from Hardenhuish Park.

The former Swindon youngster signed as cover for Mark Hervin this week, and while he is happy to be on board for the time being, the 19-year-old is hoping for a quick return to the professional game.

Farr was shown the door at the County Ground at the start of the season after the signing of England Under 21 keeper Rhys Evans forced him down to third in the pecking order for Town's No 1 shirt.

Now Farr hopes to use Chippenham as a shop window in a bid to impress the glut of scouts monitoring Dr Martens League football.

"I want to get back into the pro game as soon as I can," he said.

"Being released from Swindon at the beginning of the season was bad timing because I didn't get the chance to have trials elsewhere.

"Now I need to be playing games so that when I do get a trial I'm fresh and on the ball. If you play well enough people come and watch you and you get spotted."

Farr can take heart from the example of James Bittner another young keeper deemed surplus to requirements at the County Ground.

After building up a reputation as one of the Dr Martens League's finest with Chippenham, Bittner secured a return to full-time football with Exeter City in the summer.

Farr hopes to follow that lead but he must first displace current Chippenham custodian Mark Hervin.

"They can't drop Mark just because I'm here," said Farr, who made two starts for the Robins last season.

"He's done well in the first seven or eight games so I've just got to wait for my chance and grab it when it comes."

That chance is unlikely to come in the home clash with Cambridge City tomorrow.

Although Hervin conceded three in the thrilling midweek draw with Merthyr, the first goal took a wicked deflection and the third was a penalty.

Other selection dilemmas for boss Tommy Saunders include the striking combination.

On-loan Marc McGregor partnered Martin Paul against Merthyr, with Charlie Griffin on the wing.

But player-assistant Adie Mings made an impressive late cameo which sparked the Bluebirds' comeback.

Mark Harrington and Mark Badman are both ruled out with groin injuries and the latter is likely to require an operation. Ellis Wilmot and Nathan Edwards should retain their roles in midfield.
