A DRIVER who suffered neck injuries when his car plunged into a ditch at an accident blackspot could face drink-drive related charges.
Police have reported a man from Newbury for failing to provide a blood sample after he crashed his Rover 214 near Melksham.
Emergency crews sealed off the A365 between Bowerhill and Seend for more than an hour around 10.30pm on Thursday night following the single vehicle accident close to the Turnpike garage.
Fire crews from Melksham and Trowbridge were called to help free the driver. Police officers accompanied the driver, who was taken by ambulance to the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
It is the second accident on the corner within the space of 10 months.
In November, a 21-year-old woman narrowly escaped death when her Peugeot 309 plunged off the A365 and into a six-foot deep waterlogged ditch.
Traffic officers said the Turnpike bend is a notorious accident blackspot, with drivers regularly misjudging the twisty corner.
