Ref. 26730-08HUNDREDS of supermarket workers traded bank notes for song notes yesterday as they attempted to sing their way into the Guinness Book of books. . . and it looks like they may have made it.
Staff at the Asda store on the Orbital Retail Park joined thousands of other colleagues as well as customers from across the UK to sing pop-star Louise's latest single Don't Give Up at exactly 5pm.
The song, which is tipped to top the charts, was specially recorded for the chain's Tickled Pink Campaign for Breast Cancer Care.
Organisers collected donations in buckets as the workers belted out the words.
Joyce Arthur, events coordinator at the Swindon store, said: "The staff and customers had a great time. It really is a beautiful song and encourages people suffering from Breast Cancer not to give up but instead to keep going.
"It was great to see so many people actively take part."
Since 1996 the campaign has raised £3.2 million for Breast Cancer Care, helping thousands of sufferers come to terms with the condition.
Speaking about her involvement in the campaign Louise said: "I'm delighted to have been asked to do this."
The world record for a mass sing-a long currently stands at 83,637 and belongs to Cancer Care and Young Voices.
