SWINDON got a touch of movie glitz when a stretch limousine rolled into town carrying one of the original James Bond girls.

Caroline Munro, 53, who starred as villain Naomi in The Spy Who Loved Me, dropped in to sign autographs and chat with eager fans at Infinitely Better in the Brunel Shopping Centre yesterday afternoon.

The visit was part of a James Bond day with a casino, a Jaguar XKR adding to the 007 glamour.

It appears the classic films are just as popular with the younger generation as the old.

Sam Stevenson, aged 12 of Northbourne Road in St Andrew's Ridge rushed to meet the actress.

"I am a big Bond fan and I've watched every one," he told the beaming star.

"My favourite film is Goldfinger, it's got loads of shooting and action in it. "

Meanwhile Peter Orland, 76, of Jennings Street in Rodbourne, owns every film.

He said: "I never get bored of watching them. They really keep you on the edge of your seat."

The pensioner can remember watching them when they first came out.

"I used to go down to the cinema at the Savoy and see them the moment that they released," he said.

Mr Orland added that his favourite Bond actor is Sean Connery.

"You can't beat Sean," he said. "The others aren't a patch on him he carries it off brilliantly. He had the mannerisms and the charm."

While the actress said she had to agree with that, she admitted that her personal favourite was Roger Moore.

"They all brought something new to Bond. I worked with Roger so he is my favourite.

"The film seems to cross all barriers it's just harmless, fun fantasy," she said.

Steve Goss, managing director off the memorabilia store, said: "We thought we would do something a bit different so we decided to invite some of the best known Bond girls down. Everybody loves James Bond.

Martine Beswick, who starred in Thunderball will be at the centre on October 2, while Shirley Eaton, who appeared in Goldfinger will be there on October 9.
